Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) capture technology progress and manufacturing processes. Both are used in industry, especially in assessing product development risk; additionally, the National Network of Manufacturing Institutes uses MRLs to identify scope of investment and to monitor progress toward commercialization. By focusing on MRL 4-7, NextFlex seeks to accelerate the transition of proven R&D into the U.S. industrial base.
