Program Manager

About

The program manager will be responsible for all aspects of implementation of the funded project activities under NextFlex, including the managing of project schedules, statements of work, milestone achievements, as well as scheduling technical updates, quarterly reports, and final reports. The ideal candidate must be very well organized and have a high attention to detail. They must have a customer service mindset and the ability understand the technical aspects of the programs underway. The role is also responsible for managing the review and selection of both topics and projects for funding.

Key Responsibilities

Roadmap Program and Process Management

Roadmaps are the technology planning and needs for flexible hybrid electronics that are written by institute members and are used to drive investment decisions for technology development.

  • Managing revision control and consolidation of the NextFlex technology roadmaps
  • Identification of crosscutting technical gaps across roadmaps
  • Working with the Technical Working Group co-leads to improve the roadmaps
  • Management of the format and look of member roadmaps for distribution
  • Management of roadmaps distribution to members

Project Call Process

Project Calls are public requests-for-proposals to the public and private sectors to develop specific technologies and receive funding from NextFlex for approximately 40% of the program development costs.

  • Management of the Technical Council prioritization and voting Process for topic and Project Selection
  • Recording of the details or process and voting of any NextFlex technical-, governance-, or project-related matters

Program Management

  • Management of the details and timelines for the Statements of Work within the development agreements, which are the contracts for awardees in the Project Calls
  • Organization, dissemination, and maintenance of all critical documents
  • Management of the review process of quarterly or bi monthly submissions, technical reports, billing, and reimbursement to developers
  • Mapping of developments to the roadmaps and the portfolio management process

Proposal Writing

  • The role will from time to time be tasked with writing proposals to other organization wherein the labs at Nextflex or NextFlex staff will act as performers of a statement of work using external funding

Critical Capabilities

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Tools, in particular, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Technical understanding of micro-electronics manufacturing and printed electronics
  • Experience with Portfolio Management Processes
  • Experience with Gate Review or Stage Gate Processes
  • Experience with technology roadmaps
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand the details and requirements of developer contracts
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong sense of customer service
  • Experience with writing technical proposals and statements of work
  • Experience with contract management
  • Experience with contract negotiation

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, or equivalent
  • US citizen
  • 7+ years of experience in program management or related field
  • Experience with and understanding of the US DOD Manufacturing Readiness Level Scale
