Position Summary
NextFlex, America’s Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute, is a public-private collaboration with the mission of advancing the capabilities of U.S. manufacturing in the field of Flexible Hybrid Electronics (FHE) and ensuring that the enabling manufacturing technologies are developed and shared with institute members and the U.S. Government. The institute is a not-for-profit entity funded jointly by industry, academia and the U.S. Government. Our work enables the next generation electronics for medical, wearable, asset monitoring, structural health monitoring, soft robotics, integrated array antennas, automotive and agricultural technology applications.

In this position, the Contracts Intern will be exposed to flexible hybrid electronics (FHE) technology projects from the perspective of contracting and management. The intern will have the opportunity to learn the basics of government contracting and its function relative to making exciting things happen and at the same time mitigating risk for the company.
The Technology Projects Contract Administrator (TPCA) Intern provides support to the Manager, Strategic Programs and Legal Affairs and to NextFlex Executive Management.
The primary purpose of the TPCA is to review and administer contracts and other documents that include a commitment by NextFlex to perform certain development work or service. Execution of agreements are performed through review of legal documents by NextFlex’s General Counsel and in accordance with Executive Director signature authority.
Under general supervision, the TPCA is responsible for supporting government and commercial contract negotiation and administration services consistent with NextFlex business practices and to assure NextFlex compliance with customer contractual requirements. This includes responsibility for following contracting policies and procedures, and the implementation of current government acquisition regulations and policies.

The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Support Smartsheet management of all Projects, Proposals and NDA administration & Deliverables
- Review outgoing RFP’S and proposals to ensure accuracy with contracting requirements
- Support negotiations with customers, as needed, and administer contracts and agreements
- Project Set-up (coordinate with finance) for quicker project activation
- Preparation of required periodic reports associated with government contracts and agreements
- Lifecycle to include closeout of contracts, grants, Project Calls and other projects
- Coordinate NextFlex, Loaned and Government property control plan and administration
- Perform Qualitative Analysis on budget proposals
- Provide assistance to project support and technical personnel for assuring compliance with NextFlex policies and procedures to include ITAR
- Recommend solutions to complex contracting issues, challenges
- Maintain good internal and external customer relationships
The TPCA supports NextFlex contractual representation for interfacing with customers and provides a favorable contractual and financial environment to facilitate technical success across projects.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Prefer a college student interested in contracts or legal work
- Desired: experience with SmartSheets

This role will be conducted hybrid (combination of in-person and remotely). As such, it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity and ‘work-like’ environment, free from distractions, at the home locations so as to delivery their best in terms of productivity and quality. A laptop will be provided for use in completion of the functions of this role.
Work Authorization / Requirements
