Emily McGrath Nominated by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo to work2future Board

We are proud to announce that our Workforce Development Director, Emily McGrath, has been nominated by San José Mayor Sam Liccardo to join the work2future Board of Directors. As the newest member of the board, Emily joins 19 existing members to provide strategic planning, policy development and oversight for Santa Clara County’s workforce development system that helps county residents get the skills and coaching they need to find a new job, get a promotion, or start a new career.

“The work2future Board of Directors warmly welcomes Emily McGrath to our cause. Emily’s experience in developing and deploying workforce development programs in our community is well-known and appreciated,” said Monique Melchor, Executive Director, work2future. “Emily’s ability to draw together important stakeholders including educators, industry, and economic development groups serves as a great model for helping us achieve greater results.”

As Workforce Development Director, McGrath oversees NextFlex’s portfolio of workforce development programs across 25 U.S. markets, including FlexFactor and Flex2Future. Each workforce program is designed to bridge a different gap in talent development across each U.S. labor market. These workforce development programs were launched and developed in Santa Clara County, giving her unique insight into the local labor market, as well as development and training needs of both Bay Area-native and national job seekers. Throughout her career, McGrath has developed and maintained key relationships across the advanced manufacturing sector including education, industry, government, and military.

“As the Director of Workforce Development for a Manufacturing Innovation Institute, I am thrilled to join the work2future Board and support the critical goal of developing and attracting skilled talent into the region,” said McGrath. “Silicon Valley consistently has high demand for technically agile and innovative workers, so the opportunity to work with this creative and forward-thinking group is exciting. I look forward to contributing to the further development of a set of collaborative solutions that will meet our local region’s need for a diverse, inclusive, and skilled workforce.”

Emily has been confirmed and appointed and will be a member of the work2future board through March 31, 2025.
