NextFlex News – December 2018 Newsletter
We’re Growing Again
As capability in the Technology Hub gains momentum, NextFlex needs new skills and abilities to design, develop, print, integrate devices and test FHE-enabled devices and manufacturing processes. We’ve expanded our technical team to accommodate all these activities and the following staff joined NextFlex over the past six months:
- Michael Avenell, Process Development Engineer
- Alexander Cook, FHE Process Development Engineer
- Robert McManus, Electrical Engineer
- Sean Nachnani, Application & Design Engineer
- Ben Plattner, Mechanical Engineer
- Wesley Powell, Manufacturing Process Engineer
With these critical hires, we now have the talent on board to assist the FHE community with project work. At the same time, we are proactively acquiring both commercial and government agency projects which are a growing part of our activities. Much of the commercial project work is being guided by Ed Hendricks, our new Director of Business Development, who came to us from Jabil.
Our Workforce Development team has also grown to support FlexFactor® in the Silicon Valley area, while Emily McGrath, Deputy Director of Workforce Development, leads the nationwide expansion of FlexFactor, and Brynt Parmeter, Director of Workforce Development, builds out course materials for a new Corporate FHE training program called FHE: PRO. New program managers Clarence Chi and Mikayla Ridi have their hands full with 19 iterations of FlexFactor completed this semester in high schools and middle schools around Silicon Valley.
As 2018 draws to a close, I’m reminded of the fantastic work that we’ve done together this year, with exciting plans already developing for the first quarter of 2019. Our plans for FLEX2019 in Monterey, California, are developing, and we hope to see you there, especially as it may be a great opportunity for you to greet these new NextFlex team members. (As always, NextFlex members get discounted registration; Early Bird rates end December 15th.) Details about our Member Meetings at FLEX2019 are on our website. Due to the President’s Day holiday that week, NextFlex events will be held later in the week than usual so please check the schedule prior to making travel plans.
Best wishes to all for a safe and happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
Dr. Malcolm J. Thompson
Executive Director
