NextFlex News – September 2018 Newsletter

Big News from the East Coast!

I’m writing this from Binghamton, NY, where I just spoke at the 30th Annual Electronics Packaging Symposium, and NextFlex is very pleased to have just announced the formation of two NextFlex “Nodes” to support regional FHE manufacturing ecosystems in New York and Massachusetts. Since NextFlex was formed, it was in our vision to establish Nodes, which are focus centers for FHE development, in those geographic areas where concentrations of NextFlex members are established, where manufacturing infrastructure and capability exists, and where economic development in support of FHE and advanced manufacturing is already underway. These conditions exist in both New York and Massachusetts, which are both strong centers of capability and with whom we are actively engaged. I hope you’ll read the full story further in this newsletter and celebrate with us as we recognize the progress we’ve made thus far. Congratulations to the excellent teams in both regions and thanks to all for the great support.

Secondly, I’d like to draw your attention to the excellent NextFlex workshop that will be held next month at UMass Amherst October 16-18 on “Scalable Manufacturing Methods for Flexible Hybrid Electronics.” Workshops are a great way for the FHE community to connect and learn, so plan now to attend to discuss how we scale-up manufacturability for wearables and asset monitoring applications, and best-in-class manufacturing and processing techniques.

Important reminder: cover sheets for the Project Call 4.0 Pre-Proposals are due September 25th. That’s next Tuesday! You can find all the information you need about the Project Call here, but it is the cover sheet that lets us know that you are planning to submit a pre-proposal, so don’t let this date pass you by. This is our most important and far-reaching Project Call to date.

Finally, I look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming IDTechEx event in mid-November here in Silicon Valley. NextFlex will have its own booth for the very first time, so plan to stop by and say hello. We are always willing to listen and learn how we can improve service to you.
